You know how I said if I couldn’t keep the 4Runner, then I wouldn’t get the SC? Well, my dad has said I can’t have both. As a financial decision, it just wouldn’t be a good idea. However, the more I’ve thought about it, the more I’m debating going for the SC. I’m working on pros and cons for both, and I’ve talked to my dad about possibly going to test drive it. Giving up the 4Runner would but hard, but that SC.... Hnghhhh... I don’t know what to do, Oppo. Oh, and according to a family friend who’s a reserve cop, the ticket should only be about $150, but court costs might be up to $150 in addition. Again, wish me luck.

UPDATE: I’m leaving for a mission trip to Honduras Tuesday morning and won’t be back until the 11th, but my dad said that if the car was still available after we got back, we could go look at it. Excited for both things, and if you consider yourself a religious person, please pray for our effort in Honduras. Thank you!

Since you are asking - think about the kind of person you are and the things you want to do. Are you the outdoorsy type who would like to go camping on the weekends, perhaps pull a boat, and have space for lots of friends? Or are you the sporty/boy racer type who prefers to cruise on Friday nights with just one friend, or perhaps hang out with the car club guys? What’s your plan for when you graduate? Are you going to want something that will haul all your junk to college or will you be the guy that always borrows someone else’s truck?

Things to consider.

I don't think I will get any as long as I don't get another ticket within the next 6-9 months. And for that I will likely purchase a radar detector.

1) I don’t do much but I’d say less towards outdoorsy stuff. I enjoy it but rarely do it.

And 2) I am getting a different car when I graduate.

talk to the prosecutor about getting it dismissed, OR no points and pay. but be certain about the STATUS of the points, so they dont sneak them on anyway........

If your getting a new one when you graduate I’d just keep the 4Runner since you already know it's problems and fixes and history you could be buying other problems with the SC but it wouldn't hurt to test drive it. Also it might encourage you to speed more which could lead to more tickets, I probably would have gotten tickets if it wasn't for the expedition I had in High School

It only has a possibility of being dismissed because I am a minor and a first-time offender. I am not even sure whether there are points at stake here.

Then why bother getting a car now? Just keep what you have and roll the savings into the next one.

I would keep the 4Runner if it weren’t so slow and bad on gas. And I’m planning on getting a radar detector either way.

My parents would be buying it.

Ok but just know radar detectors aren't fullproof I had a friend buy one and still get tickets. I don't mean to be a downer I'm just putting it out there

the money doesnt matter. but those points, make CERTAIN that you know.

points, believe it or not make a big difference when you get pulled over later. you have a few against your license and the cop says “whats another?”. not to mention the insurance....... if you hadnt yet listened to that Lehto’s law about the tickets, do it.

Yeah, I know that. Situational awareness is key. The thing is, a radar detector probably could’ve prevented my ticket since the cop was not in my line of sight.

Yeah, I listened to it. I think the points are what is nullified if don't get another one within 6-9 months.
